These days everyone is talking about going green and the recent burst of popularity in gas and electric scooters shows how serious people are getting about it. Let's face it, gas prices haven't really come down just raised to an astronomical level first so that when they dropped back into the obscene range, the unsuspecting public celebrated. Going green seems to be the only solution causing the recent craze in low cost gas and electric scooters. Low cost electric scooters  like the popular X-Treme scooter brand are being purchased for teenagers and even tweens as a second or third family vehicle.  My 13 year old uses his X-550 gas scooter as transportation to see his friends, football and baseball practice. The time and gas costs I save have paid for the scooter in the first year. As an additional benefit my teenager is gaining the independance he needs at this age while learning the responsibility of keeping it.
